Mike Smith was born and raised in Ruston, Louisiana, where he continues to live and work today. As a lifelong resident, he has an understanding of the values, challenges and expectations of the community he seeks to serve.
Mike Smith is the son of Kelly and cardiologist Dr. Billy Smith. Mike comes from a long line of community servants as his father is one of six boys, five doctors and one judge. His grandfather, commonly known as Dr. Joe, started at Green Clinic at its beginning. Mike’s greatgrandfather Dr. JL Smith, known as Docca, was a physician in Dubach, Louisiana in the time of horse and buggy house calls.
Mike recently celebrated his 11-year wedding anniversary with his wife, Danielle Smith, also a licensed attorney. Together, they are raising their three sons in Ruston. Mike and Danielle are active members of First Baptist Church of Ruston.
Mike is a committed public servant who knows that court decisions affect families, businesses and futures. That unique perspective shapes how he approaches his work and why he believes steady and principled leadership on the bench matters so deeply.
With deep roots in Lincoln Parish, more than a decade of prosecutorial experience, and a lifelong commitment to serving the community, Mike believes the Ruston City Court will operate with fairness, integrity, and respect for every person who comes before him. He is honored by the opportunity to serve the city he loves and the community that his family has proudly called home for generations.
